Irish mayor is produced in Abbeyleix, Co. Laois, Ireland  The most local settlement to Abbeyleix was probably Clonkeen, possibly dating from the 6th century.

Rock of Dunamase

The illustration on the Irish Mayor bottle is a view looking south from the Rock of Dunamase Co. Laois. The Rock was first settled in the 9th century when a fort or dún was constructed on the site. The castle was built in the second half of the 12th century. It played no part in the Cromwellian wars, except that it was blown up in 1650.
